Hi! I’m Ashley. Here’s a little bit about my background…
Having come from a family of full time gardeners and landscapers, I have been surrounded by all things floral since the moment I came into this world. After picking us up from school, mom would often take the back roads home so she could pull over to pick wild growing lilacs that grew abundantly in our area. (don’t worry, she wasn’t stealing!) Summertime was my favourite season. Our house was beside an open field which was filled with wild daisies and forget-me-nots. I found myself walking through these fields often, picking little flowers to place in my hair, and also to put on the table for dinner that evening. I think it’s safe to say that I was (and still am) a ‘flower child’.
As I entered my adolescence, party planning and designing became a great passion of mine. It brought me great joy to add colour and warmth through a variety of different florals to dinner parties and other occasions. To his day, I must say I never get tired of that feeling!
A couple years ago, I had my son, Greyson Raine. From 2 months old, Grey would often gaze at the birch tree and echinaceas in our backyard. He would want to sit by the window during mealtime, so he could look out the window at all the colours in the garden. It always seemed to calm him. When i witnessed his behaviour around flowers, it reminded of me when I was a kid. I then decided to turn my ‘full time’ hobby into a career. I am so happy that I did!
Flowers are a powerful source of joy & happiness, and put a smile on almost anyone, and I take great pleasure in being a part of that process as a floral designer.
